Assuit scarves were wildly popular in the 1920s as the craze for all things with an Egyptian slant ran rampant. It is a cotton mesh fabric that has tiny little squares of silver hammered thought he weave of the cotton to form the pattern. On this one the pattern is quite extensive and tightly spaced with rows of figures, arrows and art deco motif. These originate from the Assuit region of Egypt and have been produced since biblical times. You can still find them today but the original, antique and vintage ones are far heavier and completely hand done - the difference is apparent at a touch!
The edges are hand rolled and stitched. Perhaps a slight oxidation to the silver her and there but I do not consider this a flaw as it is natural patina and adds to its appeal! I found one repair and there are several rust stains - please super-size to see. I priced it with this in mind even though it is the heaviest of the three listing. The color is more of an ivory in person with no yellow tinge - that is a trick of the light

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.
